What does the YWCA offer in their community?
There’s a place I know by the name of YWCA. They are all for “eliminating racism, empowering women”. They have several programs that help empower women, from Other Bank (you know food banks? Think hygiene bank), Kathleen’s Closet (provides professional attire to unemployed and underemployed women), Economic Empowerment Program (tools to help women get employed), Girls Without Limits (Go STEM!), just to name a few. Check out their programs page to see more. It makes total sense they would that YWCA at the women’s march.
Why was I there?
Before the Women’s March I was able to join some of these wonderful women for a spot of breakfast before marching. It was lovely and friendly being able to get to know people who have similar values as your own. This made me really happy, I love being around kind hearted loving people and that is what I got at this breakfast. After eating we all washed our own dish, because that’s what you do to show appreciation and be a functional member of society.
Outside the YWCA leaders gave words of kindness and encouragement before we marched. I appreciate this organization so much and hope to further be involved in what they do for the community!
